Uzbek Language Translation
Language History
Uzbek is a Turkic language descended from Chagatai Turkic. It became an independent language in the 11th century. Chagatai was a member of southeastern, Karluk branches of the Turkic language. After the Mongol conquests, when Chagatai Khanate was established in Central Asia, Usbek became a literary language. Uzbeks were tribes from the Kipchak region, who conquered The Timurids under Muhammad Shaybani Khan in 1500.Â

Ali Shir Nava’i contributed to the development of the Uzbek language in the 15th and 16th centuries. Hence, he was considered the founder of the Uzbek language. The Turkic language served as a lingua franca in Central South Asia. The history of this language is divided into three stages:
- Ancient Turkic
- Ancient Uzbek
- Modern Uzbek Periods
The two dialect groups of Uzbek are Southern and Iranized (Tashkent, Bukhara, and Samarkand). The semi-Iranized dialects (Fergana, Kokand), influenced by the Tajik language, modified the vowel harmony of the Turkic language. The other group is northern Uzbek dialects in southern Kazakhstan and other dialects in the Khiva region. Uzbek is also written in Arabic, Latin, and Cyrillic scripts.Â
Countries Where Uzbek Is Spoken
Uzbek is a member of the Turkic language and family within the Altaic language group. It is widely spoken in Uzbekistan, eastern Turkmenistan, northern and western Tajikistan, southern Kazakhstan, northwestern China, Pakistan, and northern Afghanistan. Among 44 million people who speak Uzbek, 34 million native speakers come from Uzbekistan.Â
